.urban planning study: access & traffic analysis.

Ayala Alabang Village is a 600 Hectare gated community at the edge of Metro Manila. Established in the 1980s, it has grown exponentially due to the rapid urbanization of its adjacent areas, not to mention the number of the private school inside its walls. Due to this, the village has been experiencing a heavy amount of traffic because all of its entry and exit gates are located along just one road, whose carrying capacity is already beyond the maximum.

The Association commissioned an urban planning study in hopes of providing a sufficient number of additional entry and exit gates. Not only that, but the urban planning study also required properly locating these gates with a long-term vision in mind. The scope of work in this project was exceeded by providing alternative traffic schemes for the various schools located in the village.

current traffic scheme

The traffic scheme of both schools generates several chokepoints that bother the residents living near these areas to the point of having their driveways completely blocked by school-bound vehicles.

Five additional gates are recommended to alleviate the traffic inside. These gates will be located at different points to promote a variety of entrance and exit routes.
