Manhattan has decided to control its urban fabric by placing a continuous roof membrane over the entire borough. This membrane totally encloses Manhattan and transforming it into one, big giant interior structure. Due to this new type of urban typology, a special new zoning code is conceived to iron out the intricacies of building construction within this giant, interior space. Because of the ecosystems disappearing from the world, the Battery Park Botanical Garden appears to create a botanical garden within the enclosed Manhattan landscape. It includes housing different types of ecosystems and climates that are artificially controlled by the park. Within these ecosystems, special solar tubes are used to grow plants naturally, which is unprecedented at this time. The Battery Park Botanical Garden wishes to remind people the environment we took for granted before climate change affected everything. And hopefully, it will give people a renewed sense of responsibility towards their relationship with the environment.
