.MASTERPLAN FOR BASE SUPPORT AND LOGISTICS SYSTEM - ULUGAN BAY.

The West Philippine Sea is in constant turmoil with several countries vying for the territorial rights of the Spraty Islands. The Philippine Navy commissioned a comprehensive master plan to upgrade the naval base in Ulugan Bay since it is closest to said islands. Its purpose of upgrading its base is to strengthen the presence of the Navy and Armed Forces in the West Philippine Sea.

Macarascas serves at the main communications hub in the Ulugan Bay development. The communications center is located in this area. Being closest to the city, it will be semi-open to the public following the required security protocols. The entire plan is to transform the communications center to be a walkable development with spacious sidewalks and bicycle lanes.

Oyster Bay serves as the navy’s main operating base in Ulugan Bay. It is the only area in the bay that has enough depth on the ocean floor to accommodate the navy’s various ships. Due to this, Oyster Bay will also house several medium-rise barracks and billeting facilities while providing morale, spiritual, and welfare facilities. Oyster Bay will also serve as the core of the Ulugan Bay masterplan, with roads connecting to the Philippine Marine Corps to the west and the Ammunition Igloos and Deep Water Port to the east.

Woods Point is the tourism arm of the Ulugan Bay development. Its location is prime for cruise ships, especially since it is in close proximity to the world famous, Palawan Underground River. Woods Point will be an eco tourist destination that will subsidize a portion of the expenses of the Philippine Navy in Ulugan Bay
